bijou2014It's hard to believe it's already the holidays. The year has flown by and it's time to celebrate! Whether you have friends coming in town, are ringing in the new year with family, or are just enjoying a nice relaxing holiday, the Bijou has the perfect, easy, and delicious plan for you!

 

Be the hit of the holidays this season by hosting your holiday party in one of our exquisite private dining rooms. We add the extra little touches that make your celebration a memorable event, from passed hors d'oeuvres to an elegant sit down dinner party and everything in between. If you can't make it to the Bijou, at least you can still bring The Bijou home to you! Serve your guests our famous Pommes Gratin Dauphinois at your own table. Just bring in your favorite casserole dish and we will fill it with our scrumptious potatoes. It's that simple! Finish the dish in your oven at home (we give you a printed slip with all the directions), and when your friends and family savor the delectable aromas of crusty baked Gruyere cheese and fresh cream, garlic and potatoes they'll thank you lovingly. You can take all the credit, of course!

holidays2014After a long, hot and thankfully uneventful summer (weather wise) we are truly ready for fall! Up north the leaves are displaying their majestic golden hues while here in Florida we know it's fall when the license plates change color! It's not too early to plan your Thanksgiving Dinner or even Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at the Bijou Cafe.

If you don't feel like cooking for your whole family, we are offering our full a la carte dinner menu on Thanksgiving Day. We will have several chef's specials and, of course, our famous Roast Carolina Turkey with all the trimmings. The tasty, festive turkey dinner is $28.95 per person and $12.00 for children under 12. Secure your reservation (and turkey!) today. We will be open from noon to 8pm.

If you are looking to host your thanksgiving at your home instead, don't forget to swing by the Bijou to pick up our "Pommes Gratin". Bring your own casserole dish and we will fill it up so you can present it as your own home cooking. You simply finish at home and your family will be truly "Thankful"!

You know we take our happy hours seriously, especially when it comes before such an amazing and beneficial event like the Bal Masqué. This Saturday, October 4th, we are bringing the pre-party to the Bijou!

 

The Bal Masqué, starting at 8pm at the Sarasota Opera House, benefits local organizations that help children in our community. This fun event will raise money for organizations such as the Child Protection Center and Suncoast Charities for Children.

 

As the Official Wine Sponsor for the SRQ Bal Masqué event, we are transforming our Gossip Lounge into the perfect masquerade ball happy hour location. Directly across the street from the Sarasota Opera House, join us at 5pm to try our sparkling bubbly and tasty apps before hitting the main event!

jp and No one understands Happy Hour better than the Bijou. While we love our wines and martinis, sometimes we just need a nice cold brew after a long week! To that end, JP and our staff took it upon themselves to tackle this most important question: what craft brews should the Bijou Café offer?

One of the first options we explored was JDub’s Brewing Co, based right here in Sarasota. We were pleased to have the opportunity to tour their brewery last month and learn all about their history and innovative beers, and felt right at home at JDub's, where the motto is "Quality, Innovation and Culture."

JDub’s uses only the highest quality ingredients their beers including real honey and coffee, not extracts. Their tasty brews are matched by their quality, passionate employees. After our tour, we were ready to add JDub's to our list of craft beers at the Bijou!

Come try one of many handpicked craft beers, or any other of our specialty cocktails with friends after work. During happy hour, all our beers are $1 off! And don’t miss our special Oktoberfest menus coming soon to pair with these excellent beers.

Even though wedding season doesn't really arrive until October, we've recently entertained a number of lovely groups for various nuptial events. Included here are some great photos of a beautiful bridal shower we recently hosted.

 

Good planning is the key to a successful event. When you choose the Bijou for your occasion, we discuss your wants, needs and budget, making sure to answer any questions. We just may have some helpful suggestsions, too! We've hosted hundreds of amazing weddings, rehearsal dinners and bridesmaids luncheons, perfecting the process.

 

The restaurant is ideally configured for special events, with several private rooms of various sizes, the largest accomodating up to 40, and the entire restaurant can even be reserved for groups of 200 or more! Whether you'd like a sophisticated and sweet bridal luncheon, a fun and functional cocktail receiption with passed hors d’oeuvres, or a gracious and delicious rehearsal dinner, we will make it great! Our full menu is available and we're also happy to create custom menus to suit any special needs.

New and exciting cocktails include one we call White is the New Pink (Kettle One Vodka, Cointreau, fresh lime and white cranberry juice) as well as the Sarasota Limeade, simply Hangar One Lime Vodka and tonic.

 

Looking for something a bit more creative? Try a sip of a Daria's Siesta (pictured here, it's coconut rum, pineapple juice, a drizzle of grenadine and a splash of black rum) or a Basil Gin Smash (Hendrick’s Gin, Limoncello and muddled fresh basil and lemon). Besides drink wine that is. Join us for our First Friday Wine Tasting from 5:00 to 7:00pm this Friday, August 1st. No reservations needed, just get here early. It's first come, first poured!

 

Our friendly wine merchants will be pouring excellent wines from their cellars for your enjoyment. And as an added treat, "Rob the Wine Guy" will be giving us all a taste of his hand made American vodka, "Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka" from Pennsylvania. Delicious and gluten free!

 

Our delightful and always dashing service staff will be passing trays of tasty hors d'oeuvres and there's a groaning cheese board to complement the wines!

This week's menu has one of our favorites, Chicken Paillard, and when paired with a glass of white wine, it makes for the perfect summer evening.

This special menu changes every two weeks with two courses for $15 at lunch (11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.) Monday through Friday, as well as three courses for $29 at dinner (beginning at 5 p.m.) Monday through Saturday.

Bijou-Capellini ESavor Sarasota is so popular that we've decided to run it all summer! As a special thank you to our year-round guests, and an invitation to summer visitors, we're continuing a prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner.

 

The Savor Sarasota special includes two courses for $15 at lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday as well as three courses for $29 at dinner, beginning at 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

 

The menu will change every two weeks, and will include both Bijou favorites and one-time special creations. These will be posted here as soon as they are available. Reservations are always recommended but not required, and though substitutions are not available on the special menu, our kitchen will accommodate dietary restrictions as needed.

 

The Savor Sarasota menu extension marks another recent change of ours includes the addition of a new "bar bites" menu and the introduction of our first ever happy hour in the Gossips Lounge, including our signature Bijou martinis for $5, from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
