In 1986, the Knaggs family opened their 50-seat restaurant in a restored 1920s era gas station. It has since grown to accommodate 140 guests with 4 unique dining rooms: The Bird Room, The Patio Room, Main Room and The Gossips Lounge, along with 2 charming courtyards allowing for dining al fresco.
Diners at The Bijou Cafe note a joie de vivre, or “enjoyment of life,” in the restaurant as the Knaggs Family has instilled a commitment to passionate service in their staff.
The Bijou Café's reputation for dining excellence is reflected by their tremendous ratings on national web services like Trip Advisor, Open Table, Google, etc. and local publications Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Sarasota Magazine, and SRQ Magazine.
In addition to its cuisine, The Bijou Cafe has garnered the prestigious Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for outstanding wine selections from the USA, France, and around the world, including an extensive selection of South African wine.
